Paris, France
Paris, the capital of France, has a population of around 2,000,000. Tourism is a big contributor to its economy, with roughly 40 million visitors per year. Paris houses the second busiest airport in the world. (I found it very easy to navigate.) The city's top attractions are the Louvre Museum, the Eiffel Tower, the Musee d'Orsay, and Centre Pompidou, but that's just the tip of the iceberg.
Paris is almost exactly what you expect it to be. Moreso than most places I've been. But it's very "extra". Everything seems more extravagant. The lights shine brighter, the food is more delicious, the art is more beautiful, and the fashion is more fashionable. I would add that the people are more sophisticated, which they are, but that makes them sound rude, which they are not. Everyone speaks English, gladly. Strangers in cafes will assist without prompting. Smiles come easily to shopkeepers and service workers. Show them some courtesy by greeting them in French and you'll feel you've made yourself a friend.
